Apparently, this has been a perennial favourite of tourists to Singapore. Especially the ones from Hong Kong. So I had a request to buy 6 of these full sized pandan cakes.Shocking? I never bought so many at once before. Nor have I tasted it for a long while. I asked for it to be sliced and the lady over the counter advised me against it as it would cause the cakes to become dry after a period of time. The one that I bought for my own consumption however, she gladly sliced for me. Look at that! T

My sweet colleagues bought me a cake for my birthday. It's a simple gesture. They got this fruit cake from bengawan solo. Surprisingly, this basic/ simple looking cake tasted very good. The sponge was light and fluffy, the cream was not overly sweet. The fruit toppings was generous and fresh. This cake though not patisserie standard had exceeded my expectations.

Thanks to my lovely girl friend for treating me such a big piece of coffee cake from this Bengawan solo outlet, which I certainly has enjoyed it during my tea break hour. The coffee cream is very fragrant and filled with the butter flavour as well. The coffee cake sponge is moist and soft, which is not too sweet as well. Four big pieces are cut from a 500 grams whole cake, which cost merely $22.80. The taste was really good and great to go along with a cup of coffee as well.

If you want to order a unique cake, a reservation must be done at least two days before the actual date. what do you want to be when you're 4? i definitely didn't want to be a princess.but our lil girl here did.so we made an order for a massive printed cake with her favourite disney princesses in the middle. sleeping beauty, not that she loves to sleep but she just loves the blue and she's even got a character dress. apart from the fact that it was massively over creamed. the blueberry was delicious and the chocolate cake was moist. try their blackforest cake if you haven't!

Bengawang solo is one the few places left that sells nonya kueh and traditional snacks! There are lots of yummy pastries available including marble cake. This classic cake is a firm favorite for me combining both the rich chocolate cake with the delicious buttery Moist vanilla sponge. This cake though simple is done very well. The buttery taste and rich chocolate filling is rich and decadent. Not expensive too!

I I decided to buy this PANDAN CHIFFON CAKE for classmates gathering. I had never eaten this chiffon cake before. It is always in my mind that why must I buy this cake which can get less than half of price in other confectionery? After eating it, I really in loved of it, so as my old friends, the cake is so soft, just like melt in your mouth and the sweetness is just nice. It is really worth for the money to pay for. Excellent good!

Bengawan Solo comes a long way. Their range of kuehs are usually good and some do have the old school feel and often my eyes will automatically turn to the nine layers colour kueh and find it comforting that it's still around along with the other kuehs. Then there is lemper udang that I normally would like to buy it as can't seem to find in other kueh kueh stalls. The pungent of the leaves make the gluntinous rice so fragrant and having the hei bi hiam(dried shrimps) within is so nice.
