love the dumplings at din tai fung! so fresh and delicate and made with such care. all the folds and the fillings are carefully made and assembled. the shrimp dumpling is unique and great. love the soup inside the dumpling with bursts out. you have to fit the whole dumping in your mouth to get the real taste of the entire dumpling. the shrimp was fresh. the filling was just right. about $15

Everytime i am at din tai fung i would definitely order their fried rice as it is their specialty. But this time round i thought i should try something new and decided on the hot and sour soup based la mian. It was really great as it is just nice and is not too sourish. The la mian was very smooth and the portion is also quite big. Definitely filling enough for one person. Service was also great at the outlet and we didn't have to wait too long for our food to arrive.

The quality of Din Tai Fung is well-known by many people, as they uses the good standard of ingredient to prepare their food. Same goes for this meal, it is the clear soup of beef and some hand-made noodles. I brought my mum along and she likes the meal alot because the soup is very clear and nice with the strong beef fragrance and taste of soup. I believe they have cook the beef inside the soup for many hours to achieved such good taste! (:

One of my favourites here is the Shrimp Fried Rice (S$10). The rice has a nice "q q" bite to it with generous servings of fresh prawns and golden egg. Nothing extraordinary, but it is a satisfying dish.

The precise 18 fold xiao long bao (S$10.80 for 10) is meaty and soupy on the inside, do be cautious when popping the whole XLB into your mouth! The XLB skin is thin and light which soaks up the the flavour of the pork soup encased in it.

After being overwhelmed by the pork fat, we were curious to try the vegetable dumpling. I find it rather bland and boring. Perhaps it's something you might want to give a miss.

Another dish worth trying is the spring roll. The crispy skin was surprisingly not oily and the salty sweet fillings in the "spring roll" added a nice crunch to it.

The shrimp wanton noodles was quite bland actually but it is something light for the stomach too. Service was excellent as usual and the moment we sat down, the waitress came over with the bag holder for us to place our bags in.

have an early dinner with friends at din tai fung, and we were so enjoyed chit chatting there! The noodle there is handmade, very chewy and springy, and the texture is definitely better than machine made one. I prefer the mushroom gravy noodle, the dan dan noodle is less nice, and the spicy noodle is normal, not enough spicy. the spicy wanton is nice, spicy and sour, so it's very appetizing.

I tried a new dish at Din Tai Fung today, a deviation from the normal xiao long bao and mian. Its the Vermicelli Soup with Deep fried beancurd skin and minced meat ball ($7.80). Really wonder did they purposely did this to make their bun looks more different and unique from other restaurants out there? Really confuse!

The focus of this post will be on the two items which I tried for the first time at Din Tai Fung. Crispy Golden Prawn Pancake $8.50 – Could not have coined a better name for this. The end product is exactly what the name describes! It is crispy, golden, filled with prawns, and flat like a pancake! This tastes like deep fried prawn dumpling (those dipped in mayo served in dim sum restaurants) minus 80% of the skin. The prawns and paste mixture is wrapped in one thin layer of beancurd skin fried to perfection. It is amazing how the thin layer is able to hold the fillings. I like it both with and without chilli.

Was very excited when I saw the “Finely Sliced Honey Lotus Root stuffed with Glutinous Rice” ($4.00) on the menu. I fell in love with this appetizer in Shanghai, but have not had any since I returned. The appetizer looks acceptable when it first arrived at the table, but everything went downhill the moment I tried to pick it up with my chopsticks. Lotus roots were so thinly sliced, I was unable to pick it up without breaking it, making it as fragile as tofu. If you scrutinize the picture, you will notice the “cracklines”. Sauce was one dimensional and flat tasting, as if it was just thick sugar syrup. This dish on the whole lacks character and texture. Once again Din Tai Fung’s naming could not be more appropriate.

We waited for about 15 minutes, then the staff showed us the way to our seat. She was very polite and served us with tea promptly. Not long after, our orders have finally arrived. We ordered Xiao Long Bao, noodles and 'Xua Lang Tang' (Sour and spicy soup). Overall, their xiao long bao tasted the best. ordered their dumpling soup noodles which can keep me warm during my cold. The nice hot bowl of noodles arrive, it was very comforting. The soup tasted quite tasty and the wanton was really good. i

The fried pork chop rice is mouth-watering. The pork chops are chewy and not fried till burnt. The pork chops are not too salty and are very tender. When eaten together with the fried rice, the flavours match so well together. Children would like this dish, as some children would only like fried food and not with rice. However, this dish will suit the children alot.

The service was quick, efficient and friendly. I was surprised. Maybe it's because I was by myself and was easy to seat as opposed to others who are in big groups. I love their chilli pork dumpling in vinegar thing. It just tastes so good I can't stop eating it! It costs $1 per dumpling, which is only a very small dumpling, but it is very good with the chilli and the vinegar. I noticed they have vinegar and chilli on the table anyway so you could just add that to any of their dumplings! This is
