Don has quite a few outlets and I wanted to try and see if it really has "the best chicken pie in town" as claimed. The regular chicken pie was out, so I got the black pepper chicken pie instead. The pie is quite big and can be shared by two. There's plenty of ingredients within the pie, but I find the fillings to be too dry. Also, the flavouring of the fillings was quite one-dimensional and monotonous. The crust of the pie is quite thin but then there's hardly any flavour to the crust itself. I

What we loved about the Chicken Pie most; is actually the crust that covers the filling. It is so light, flaky and yet crispy, it got us wondering how Don managed to achieve that. As for the Shepherd’s Pie, it is just personal preference that we do not really fancy the slightly hard potato crust. While I prefer the black pepper filling, my parents and brother thought that the black pepper didn’t do justice to the already tasty filling by masking its taste! my family likes to frequent don for thier signature chicken pies. The pies are really flavourful and are prices reasonably while being able to feed the entire family. The pies have pretty thick pastries, surrounding chunky filling consisting chicken cubes and potatoes. Each section also has half a hard boiled egg so everyone gets a piece of the coveted egg!

Ordered the Snapple - Cranberry and raspberry. Though the drink its not cheap, I still like the fact that Snapple are natural and the little suprise below the opening cap. The taste of the drink are perfectly alright and not too artificial nor sweet.

This is the little surprise that comes below the cap. It just never fails to keep me "Whao" with the facts.

Thomas Root Beer tastes almost like the normal A&W root beer, but the fact that it isnt that sweet which i think its good.

The side view of the original pie (comes in a quarter). Comes with big chunks of chicken, half boil egg, steamed potatoes, carrots, mushrooms, peas and corns. The crust is not the kind of normal cripsy that we have seen and it comes with layers/folds. You can see it from the cross section of the picture. There is a little bit of peppery taste.

The Shepard's pie is filled with smashed potatoes. They mentioned that potatoes are freshly baked and no preservatives were added. It's very filling with its smashed potatoes are the main fillings.

Stuffings in the shepard's pie are definitely worth a try and money spent. Considering a look at this picture.

Service
Service is ok. The guy actually explains the differences between the original and shephard's pie tastse.

Ambience
Quiet place to dine in on a lazy sunday afternoon. Sometimes you will get the afternoon sun shines right onto the table where you are dining.

Price
With the price that we are paying, it's definitely value worth your money.

Recommendation / Tips
If you havent try Don's pie, I reckon that you should have a try. The also have crab bee hoon which I like.

Kid’s Pie ( $5.80 ) : Removed the peppercorns from his trademark chicken pie to make his trademark pie suitable for children of all ages! Feels that the pastry is too thick and not crispy enough. The pastry has a rather strong shortening taste.

Don sells really affordable and delicious pies! The chicken pies are my favourite with a peppery kick. The pie is chock full of chicken, potatoes and pieces of boiled eggs. Crust is flaky and slightly crispy while the filling is soft and delicious. An absolutely winning combination. Great as a gift for a friend or to bring to a party. The egg pieces help for easy splitting of the pie too! Just make sure each piece has a piece of egg.

Presenting Don - Your Personal Pie Club's Claypot Crab Bee Hoon! I have not tried this dish over here before. But have heard so much raves about it that I know, I had to make a trip down one day to try this!

The Claypot Crab Bee Hoon's broth had a slight hint of herbal (e.g. dang gui) taste in it. It was very flavourful and unique, different from the other Crab Bee Hoon soup (maybe due to slight herbal taste in it). I felt that the flavour of the roe of the crab, ginger and yam was not fully infused in this broth. There were 2 big pieces of fried Yam in it, along with vegetables, bee hoon and of course the Crab!

The crab is medium size. This is the star of the dish and it did not disappoint! The crab was very fresh! The crab meat was firm, sweet and you can easily pull out the whole crab meat from the shell be it the body, legs or even claws. (How many times have you done this? Most of the time the crab meat just sticks to the shell).

As we were still feeling hungry, we decided to buy Don's Chicken Pie (Whole) back home and ask for a quarter of it to be taken out on a plate for our consumption.

The chicken pie consisted of ingredients that include corn, carrot, potato, sliced boiled egg, mushrooms, peppercorn and chicken! Look at the above pictures and you will notice how big and thick this pie is! The other crust was not too thick is not too thick, just sufficient to hold the ingredients. It was very crispy, light and fluffy! The filling inside was flavourful and fragrant. However, I felt that the flavour of the spices was not as strong as before. Nevertheless, this is still one Chicken Pie worth coming back for!

Although Don - Your Personal Pie Club is not halal certified, they do not use any pork and lard. In addition, their chicken used in the pies are from a halal supplier. Hence, Muslim friends can enjoy this pie too.

For takeaways, you will be given a solid box that will keep your pie warm for a few hours!

Overall, I like my dining experience at Don - Your Personal Pie Club. Both the Claypot Crab Bee Hoon and Don's Chicken Pie were delicious! Now I understand why there has been so much positive word of mouth on the Claypot Crab Bee Hoon! If I am working in the CBD area, I am sure I will be eating this every week!

The chicken meat inside is very tender and juicy, which blend in very well with the cubes of carrots and vegetables mixed in the filling as well. It is not too salty nor plain, with the ideal taste for a perfect chicken pie. Eventhough the price may be a bit high, but because of its quality, I think it is definitely worth the price of it. Great for parties, meals and gatherings with family and friends!

Merlion Wayfarer also extended her adventure to a Chicken Shepherd Pie at S$5.80. Ingredients within included mainly potato (More than 60% of the pie), chicken breast meat (A bit tough!), corn, something orangey (Carrot? Pumpkin? Sweet potato?), and lots of pepper (Too strong!)...

In the end, Merlion Wayfarer had to drink lots of water to remove the over-strong peppery taste...

Compared with Uncle Leong's famous crab bee hoon which costs at least $30, Don crab bee hoon is smaller and less costly priced at $16. But it is definitely sufficient to satisfy one's craving for crabs.

This is a memorable dining moment for me because...I recently tried the Don's Chicken pie & it was yummy. It's huge & filling. I think its too big a pie for 1 person to eat & can be shared. The chicken filling was generous, the crust was crisp as well. It's a welcomed change for dinner/lunch once in a while. You should try it.

Don chicken pies are quite tasty, with the portions big enough for a meal, and the fillings generously served. The crust is of medium thickness, which means it feels just right without making you feel like you just paid for flour instead of a pie. It was also fragrant and very appetising. Everything in it tastes authentic and fresh which makes it definitely worth the price.

It's hard to find a western pie shop in Singapore. This is the only chain that's so good! They even make Chinese New Year goodies during the festive season. Love their black pepper chicken pie. It comes in a huge portion and the price is very reasonable. The place is clean and tidy and the service is friendly and efficient. The fillings in the pie is generous and the pastry is almost perfect! Very recommended! We can't stop having their pies! You can get a family size one as well.
