Decided to get some of my favourite Beancurd Skin rolls at Ho Kee Pau but the stall only left one piece so I ordered a Beancurd Chives roll. Both of them are equally oily but I prefer the Beancurd Skin Roll cause the taste is not as heavy as the Beancurd Chives roll. The latter had a strong chives taste, and although I can tolerate the taste well if it is used as a minor ingredient, it was very overwhelming and even my sister who took a bite didn’t like it. I bought two lor mai kai at $2 each to bring home for lunch for both my wife and I. The lor mai kai was quite small and I actually was quite unhappy that the staff placed the two in one box instead of separating them. Also, she did not give the disposable spoons as well. I thought that is quite a bad service. When we flipped over the aluminium bowl, we are further disappointed with what we saw. I thought that is quite a bad service. When we flipped over the aluminium bowl, we are further disappointed with what we saw. The pieces of chicken meat were very little, I think there is only three small pieces. It is definitely not worth the $2 paid. The glutinous rice is also too sticky which made eating it rather difficult. I think this will be the last time I will have this as the poor service and less than satisfactory food does not warrant a second visit.

All I can comment about their food is the generous amount of fillings and the overall taste of each items has well-controlled in terms of their frying time and the amount of oil and seasoning that are used in the making. But have it when it is hot because when it turns cold, it loses the crispiness and the skin of those fried items will harden up slightly and especially for siew mai, one is just enough for you because another one will make you feel a little sick. And even if you heat it up, the initial taste is lost.

Maybe next round should try on their pau.

I ordered the fried beancurd roll and fried chives roll for $1.20 each. The last time i ordered was a few months back. This time, these 2 rolls tasted quite oily and a bit soggy too. I can taste the amount of oil in the soaked skin. I used to enjoy eating these as snack but this time was very disappointing. I may just stick to their pau and no more such fried stuffs for now.

The siew mai was great - just the right thickness and chewiness. this was a take-away treat from my colleagues. it is great. I would say the price is slightly above average for coffee shop fare. one siew mai for 0.90cents. it is expensive for such sizes..Their famous Meat Pau ($1.80 each) and dumpling ($2.80) are quite good. However, it's quite pricey. the meat is juicy and tender as well.

Ho Kee Pau is not only good in making their signature hand made meat pau, their deep fried meat rolls taste equally good as well. The beancurd skin is thin and not too salty. Wrap up with generous amount of marinated minced meat, spring onion and their special seasoning, this finger foods sure has impress me and their fans as well. Great to eat it on it own and also eat with plain rice and porridge. Dip in chilli sauce or tomato sauce to enhance it's flavour too.

Ho Kee make excellent snacks. I love their Char Siew Pau, lots of char siew filling and the skin is soft and fluffy. If you do not want to eat it on the spot, you can request for non-steam char siew pau and you bring it back home to steam.

my mother came home with this! big pau for everyone's supper. ho kee pau really sells delicious dim sum food. i especially love thier big pau. the pau is very soft and fluffy. it is not too thick. they are very generous with their ingredients. the meat inside the pau is humongous! there is no fat meat at all. they added a slice of egg as well. the pau itself is quite juicy too, and the juice is very tasty, my sister jokingly calls it da xiao long bao!

It was early morning and i haven't had my breakfast. I passed by Ho Kee Pau and was happy to see that they were opened for business!I ordered the siew mais and yam cake. I love the siew mais by ho kee cause it is always fresh and u can taste chunks of meat and mushrooms within. The yam cake wasn't so bad either with chunks of yam and shrimps within, however it was a bit too oily for my taste.

What I like about the chicken pau: Meat is juicy, tender and well marinated. There is not much fats and not too oily. The amount is generous. The bread is soft, and is just a small layer surrounding the meat. You are able to taste the meat in every bite, unlike eating plain bun. Only $1.60 each pau, and enough to fill your stomach.
