Recently went to Pin Si restaurant for my parent birthday celebration. Initially thought there won't be much people for a sunday dinner since this is located in Safra. But i was wrong, there are actually alot of reservations on the list and people are streaming in before 7pm. We order their 10 pax set dinner which cost at $398++. This does not include drinks or rice. If you are a safra member, you get to enjoy 10% off the bill which is quite worth it as you get to earn points for your safra card too. Btw, they can keep your birthday refrigerated, and the staff are willing to help you if you are planning a birthday surprise.

The restaurant serves generally ok Chinese food, and there isn't any particular outstanding dish which I want to specifically mention. However, the lo hei which we had then was a memorable one. It has a variety of dishes & yummy sauces, and I find myself finishing my share of lo hei efficiently. What's more, the staff are friendly and attentive, which makes my family outing an enjoyable one.

Will be back there for another round of lo hei next year!

The restaurant located at level 2 of the Yishun SAFRA Country Club is quite spacious and has a relaxing atmosphere. The waiters/waitresses were very attentive too.The Deep Fried Beancurd with Pork Floss was our favourite among the dishes we ordered. It was shaped into a huge oval shape and deep fried. Crispy on the outside and smooth in the inside. The Peking Duck Skin with Crepe was only so so. The duck skin lacked the fragrant and crisp. The duck skin also lost its texture in the thick crepe.

The Salted Egg Prawn was fresh and nice. It had a coating of salted egg which was nicely cooked, neither too dry or moist. The Steam Grouper Fish was fresh and firm. The vegetable was also nicely cooked and done.

Was here for a meal of yusheng with my family. The restaurant was very quiet, only occupied by a few tables. The yusheng we ordered was fresh and tasty. There was lime added to give the dish a more appetizing taste. Also, we ordered a plate of crabmeat ee-mian. It was something different from the zi char we outside. The noodles had bits of beaten egg and crab meat slices..a very yummy dish.

It was my grandmother’s birthday and the whole family headed to pin si to celebrate. As there were so many of us and it was hard to cater to individual’s liking, we decided to order the birthday set meal. The Braised Superior Shark’s Fin in Superior Stock was of high benchmark, comparable to many 5-star restaurants. I was stupefied by the rich tasty stock & the big chunks of Shark’s Fin.

Their Fresh Scallops & Prawn Balls sautéed with Asparagus was another reason why I went back. The aroma of this spicy XO dish filled our noses before our taste buds hit the note.

So if you’re living in the North of S’pore or running out of places to eat in town, be sure to hop over to the gem.

Double Boiled Shark's Bone Soup with Twins Treasure

On the exterior, this may seems like some plain gooey peanut soup but.....

oh boy, we were all wrong, it contains one two three gems found in chinese food. There's scallop (wow!), Abalone Mushroom (Wow!) and ABALONE (WOW!). No prize for getting it right, abalone is def my fave. Soup is not wasted tho, all the essence of the tresure had went to the soup. It tasted so good, i had to steal from my neighbour.

Stir-fried Fresh Scallops & Prawns with XO Sauce
Everything about the dish is oh-so-perfect, oh-so-fresh. What's more to complain when the food are fresh. Need I say more?

Pan-fried Trio Stuff Varieties Hakka Style

It's a "nah-dish" for me. Not a great fan of Yong Tau Foo esp the Brinjal. = (
In between the dishes, i tried to play with the Panorama function in the cam. Seems cool and i manage to capture everyone in one shot in the table with me. Keke. But i guess i need more practice.

Roasted Pipa Duck
This dish is indeed appealing. Love the colour, the texture. But i dunno whether i'm unlucky, the parts that i got are all bones. So end up, i only manage to taste the ultra nice and crispy skin. Meat wise, it's a tad oily. Still prefers Peking Duck.

But, matching it with the tangery lemony sour plumy sauce (don't think i got it right) does the magic!!!!

Braised Goose Web with Mushroom & Broccoli
This is the only dish that i dare not eat the main item in it. Cos it's like waving to me. Ewww. Anyway, my neighbour had my share, comments from him was, it's really great, tender and full of collagen. Shall have botox dose instead of this. = X
Steamed Meehon with Minced Salted Fish & Assorted Seafood
I never knew that beehoon and tunghoon mixed together could give you such great taste. Don't go, bleah, just vemicelli. Gtta give credits to Pinsi chef for creating such delightful dish out of staple food. 10/10 love for this!!!!

Bird's nest with Water Chestnut & Egg White

Sorry, but gtta be really really biased here. Cos BIRD'S NEST is my fave dessert of all! And all i tasted of birdnest was with ginko nuts or just melted rock sugar. Who would have thought that mixing the water chestnut in would give such great biting senses. haahahaha. My fave of them all!!! ^^

Overall, i would definately go back and eat, probably this CNY eve or sth cos the ambience is so posh and the waiter even explained all the dishes to us. Thoughtful. I like this kind of service cos it seems like it's dying down in most restaurant.

i love this place. it was mom's birthday so dad decided to bring us for a sumptuous meal. Pin si introduced a $98/person menu for an 8 course dinner. Not gonna go through all the 8 dishes so other than the Trio Varieties Combination Platter, you may wish to order Stewed Meehon with Minced Salted Fish and Assorted Seafood. Mom loved it. She is a noodle person just like me. Though the taste was superb, I secretly wished that there were more seafood. Salted fish perfectly added depth to the otherwise average-only vermicelli/meehon dish.

This seems like a good Chinese restaurant for family gatherings, weddings or simply dimsum over the weekend. Will visit again.

Last Thursday, 23 September a few of us were invited to attend an informal food bloggers get-together session at Pin Si Chinese Restaurant. This restaurant has being shifted over from it old located at Yishun Central to Yishun Safar since last year.

From the menu list, we are being served with appetizer, soup, a few main dishes and guess what, “Bird’s nest” as our ending dessert. Every one of us enjoys the great companies of new and old friends, food and wine as well as exchanging of our views on the dishes and a bit of our current updates.

These are some of my recommending dishes, which I find then worth trying especially the “Double Boiled Shark’s Bone Soup with Twins Treasures”. As a soup lover, I find this soup is almost perfectly done with its flavour thick and sticky texture that leaves your mouth and taste buds with all the goodness.

For more read-up on this full review, do stay tune on the upcoming post at my blog soon @ http://cuisineparadise-eatout.blogspot.com/
