Deep-fried pork fillet, the rice at bottom was coated a layer of fluffy egg. Entire was served along with special sweet Japanese sauce in a hot claypot, nicely smoky aroma. Boneless meat was fuss-free, delicious when I was eating along with rice and egg. It was $26.90, filling portion yet sounded a little costly.

Overall, will i come again ? Yes

well, the food is classified as open food haha. i m quite clueless on what the food is except probably know the ingredients by guessing lol. the total cost for open food is 58 bucks but we really got very exotic food.

the below i supposed is grilled silver fish? the silver fish looks super dehydrated together and it is very crispy. It gives a grilled smell and taste so i supposed it is prepared using grilling method. The "fish cracker" i would call it, taste super good when dip with mayo. sound sinful enough?

ok, this dish taste abit like foie gras cooked in japanese style but my other friend told me that maybe it is some fish liver? M not sure if fish liver is that big, maybe the fish is super huge? Nevertheless, the liver taste different from the usual ones that i eat before especially it is not pan-fried and is served cold. The japanese sauce that goes with it adds a little refreshing taste.

Fish sperm. Initially i thought it was some kind of brain or something. I have never seen fish sperm before. I had one taste and i would never forget the taste never! and yes, i will also never try it again cos the fishy taste really puts me off..so much for my adventurous courage..lol

Kurobuta Kata. this must be my favorite dish of the day. the pork is not too lean and it is very soft and juicy. Crispy on the outside but soft and juicy on the inside. I have not tasted anything like this since i last had mine in the Philippines. oh, the cost for 1 side-us kuro kata is about 27 bucks which i feel is very worth the money for the quality of food you are having

Best of all, the fried 'Oysters' that they are serving over here taste pretty much the same as those that I have eaten in 'Japan'. It simply reminds me of the delicious 'Hiroshima' Oysters.

Mentaiko Kasane Katsu $29.90
I love drenching the shredded cabbage with the seaweed sauce (idk what it is called). So good!! The Mentaiko Katsu was a disappointment though. It was not the least bit spicy and halfway through, it felt a little "jelat".

Cheese Kasane Katsu $29.90
I love this! The melted cheese went well with the pork loin. It was very filling and satisfying.

Tonkotsu Ramen
My friend found that it was average only. For me, I like the soup base of my ramen to be rich and thick so this is not my type of ramen.

Chicken Katsu Toji $26.90
Friend's. I tried the egg and it was quite tasty. I will probably order this the next time I visit there.

Chicken Katsu Curry $24.90
This is the ideal dish for lovers of Japanese curry! The curry is placed in a separate serving bowl so you pour your desired amount onto your dish. This set comes with a salad side.

I've always been ordering the Hire Katsu set (its leaner than the Rosu cut which is the pork fillet.) It comes with three pieces of fried pork, crisp and golden (i kid you not) to perfection, served with a bed of shredded lettuce, pickles and miso soup. The set costs $21 and it worth every penny. The breadcrumbs are slightly more coarse and large so that the coating of the fried pork becomes very textured. It's juicy on the inside and perfectly crispy on the outside. A joy to eat. The tonkatsu sauce also complements the pork -savoury, not too watery, and also slightly sour, dabbed with a bit of horseradish, this dish really packs a punch!

The Curry Hire Katsu set is at $24, and has curry generously doled onto the plate topped with the hire katsu. The curry is nothing out of the ordinary -not too starchy and it has a distinct curry-power aroma, a certain spiciness that leaves an impression on your tongue. Other than the delicious katsu to complement it, I highly doubt that this dish would prove to be stellar. Nevertheless, it's still worth a try if you want to have Tonkichi's signature katsus paired with Japanese curry.

The katsus here are really fantastic, and service is great too. They serve watermelons after the meal, which was unexpected. The watermelons are really sweet, too
Food quality is exceptional, and they are good at what they're good at. Price wise it's a bit on the steep side, but hey, no one's really complaining! The food and ambience justifies the price. My recommendation would be the Hire Katsu Set (you can choose whether you want the 3pc at $21 or 4pc at $24) or the Rosu set (which is the pork fillet).

Was really very impressed by the nice cosy environment in this Japanese restaurant. The decoration looks simple and yet really spacious. Decided to try their pork loin cutlet as recommended by the friendly service staffs. The pork loins are very juicy and quite tender in texture. The crispy bread crumbs over the pork loins are delicious and also not too oily. You need not dip in any sauce and these pork loin cutlets still taste yummy with its natural sweetness from the meat.

Tonkichi is famous for its Tonkastu. Tonkatsu means pork cutlet ( "ton" - pork , "katsu" - cutlet). There are also 2 types of cuts for katsu. Hire (pork fillet) and Rosu (pork loin). This set is one of the most worth it set you could try if you are on your first visit, because it allows you to try almost a taste of everything that they offer in the ala carte. Besides the ramen and sushi.

I added a homemade curry at $6.90 and shared among the two of us. serving size is more than enough for both of us.

and as read on the menu they provide free flow of rice and veggie if you order sets, so for people really hungry and not going for small size servings yet expensive restaurant, here is the place.
