Soup pasta OK Jun 14, 2012

I had the soup pasta for lunch the other day. One could choose either spaghetti or fettuccine for the pasta. The soup base is the normal tomato pasta sauce, but more watery. It tastes not bad, with lots of pepper in it to give a hint of fiery hotness. One could also choose either chicken or seafood for the ingredient. I chose the seafood, and get some tiny prawns, crab sticks etc. Overall speaking, quite appetizing.

Easy dinner OK Jun 14, 2012

Conveniently located at the busy district, this little eatery provides a 'fast food' service. Though teh queue is long, but one would not need to wait for too long before getting the food. I ordered set meal 1 that consists of mee sua + chicken + drink + tea egg, costs $7.8, not bad. The mee sua is delicious, the flavour is good, and not too starchy.

The deep-fried chicken is well-marinated in pepper, and gives a tangy after taste, very crispy too. It tastes good for the first few pieces, but after a while the tongue sort of feeling numb caused by the pepper.

Same thing for the Mega Crispy Chicken. This one is marinated/ coated with spices and chilli I guess, but the texture is very tender and juicy. Worth trying a few bites.

Oriental pasta OK Jul 16, 2012

The food at MEGAbites Cafe is quite alright in general. But one set back is the atmosphere where you could smell oil in the air, as their open-concept kitchen is inside the cafe, and they do lots of deep-fry in there. Not too impressive. I ordered the oriental pasta, served with chicken cutlet. The dish comes with potato soup, and it costs $5.50. Reasonable price. The cutlet is very crispy outside, slightly too hard I reckon. However, I love the pasta. Very rich tomato paste, and lots of seaweed.

Soup OK Jul 13, 2012

I was feeling a bit heaty and decided to order the steamed soup to go with my dinner. I had the "old cucumber" with pork ribs soup ($3). The soup base is very sweet, although you can't really see lots of pork ribs inside. There are plenty of old cucumber and a couple of red dates in the steamed soup. I like it because it doesn't taste oily and most importantly you won't feel thirty later of the night, means minimal or no MSG used.

Went pass this stall the other day and saw their promotion banner, $1 for all buns, so I decided to give it a try.

I bought their durian polo bun and chicken polo bun. Both look good from the outside. However, the taste is a huge disappointment. The durian filling has this fake durian sweet flavour, I couldn't taste any durian pulps. On the other hand, the chicken filling is too salty. Well, perhaps for only a dollar, one shouldn't expect too much.
