I always go for the chawanmushi during my first round of buffet. I liked the soft smooth egg custard gently going downmy throat. It was light so as to prepare me for heavier dishes after that. I would normally take a few slices of salmonsashimi too as there were no swordfish. Then I started trying out small portions of other dishes too. There were also ramen, fried food and salad, which did not really interest me. After a few rounds, especially salmon sashimis, I decided to go for the desserts. Sponge cakes with cream, and light macaroon's shells (not cookies). Drank a few cups of diluted green tea and ate some fruits to wash away the sweetness from my mouth. The last intake would be the ice-cream. A scoop of green tea (my favourite), black sesame and chocolate chips. I took another serving of green tea ice cream after that.

I ate at this buffet restaurant for dinner with a group of friends as we were hunting for a buffet dinner within our budget. Each adult pays about $30 after gst and service charge for dinner at student price. I feel that it is not very worth it for the quantity and quality of food available. The buffet is half ala-carte and half self-served. The raw sashimi and meat were not very fresh and need to be self-cooked in the little pot they have on each table. The fried food were so-so and the udon and ramen were not bad. The soft shell crab, which you have to order from the menu is easily the best dish I tried at the restaurant. Well-seasoned and crispy all round, the crab can be eaten shell and all. I recommend that anyone going to this restaurant order the soft shell crab.

The choice of desserts was quite limited but more or less adequate for the price paid.

Most of the cakes were not bad. The black sesame ice cream was really good, but the cookies and cream ice cream had too much ice in it.

Overall, a good choice if you are on a budget and are looking for a sizable japanese buffet. 7.5/10

Taking a leap of faith, my friends and I decided to pop by this restaurant to try some of their Japanese food. And oh my, everything is up-to-standard! Usually they'd just anyhow cook a dish but these food is really good!We went quite late, almost closing time, but luckily there were still seats available and there's a wide range of cooked food, uncooked food, desserts. The salmon is really good! Eat less of the cooked food though, they're not really worth it because it's super deep-fried.

Despite the fact that there isn't a huge selection, this is one of my favourite Japanese buffet restaurant as it serves quality food at reasonable price. Some of the dishes which I will strongly recommend are sashimi, tempura prawn, tasty egg (Japanese style hard boiled egg in which the yolk is uncooked) and the fried salmon skin. As the tasty egg is served cold, you may like to order a pipping hot ramen to go with it (if you are like me who don't like to take cold egg). The desserts are also som

for gathering with friends! The super awesome thing is that there is free flow of shabu shabu for dinner only. They are thinly sliced, which was really good! Easier to eat. We ordered several servings of this awesome item. Anothr must try item in Tarafuku Restaurant is their potato salad. Very good dressing which goes really well with the potato! YUMMY!

Just visited Tarafuku Japanese restaurant yesterday for a good buffet lunch with my fellow girlfriends! The price is reasonable, considering this is a Japanese spread of delicacies, plus, there's lots of raw salmon up for grabs! Ranging from Tempura to Salmon Skin hand rolls (which was really good!!), what I found most interesting was their milk pudding dessert. One might think that it is relatively easy to make, but I think otherwise. The texture and flavour of the milk pudding was indeed smoot

Definitely will go again some day.

My boyfriend and I went to Somerset where we decided to try out probably the cheapest Japanese Buffet in Singapore. Tarafuku is located at the basement of 313@Somerset and the lunch buffet costs only about $17.60++ an adult. That's very cheap if you compare it to the other Japanese buffets in Singapore. We went in and to our surprise, it was packed. So we ended up having to wait for about 20 minutes before there was a table for us.

Once we got in, we took a quick scan around the buffet spread. And when I say 'quick', it's not because we wanted to rush to the eating, but rather because the spread was very limited.

I guess we should've prepared ourselves for that, especially for the price we paid.

There was sushi, sashimi, chawanmushi, miso soup, ramen, udon, variety of salads, deep fried chicken wings, potato wedges, deep fried taro sticks, shishamo, fried mackerel, fried rice, porridge, tempura, pasta, vegetables topped with melted cheese, fried chicken cutlet, fresh fruits, ice cream, desserts, coffee, etc.

The quality of the food met my expectations, once again, considering the very low price of the buffet. However, I won't raise your expectations either by saying it was superb. Tarafuku is very much like Sakura, except you get less variety with the dollars saved.

This would be one of the cheapest Japanese buffet out there, costing about $19 for saturday lunch and yet serve quality sashimi. A downside to it would be that the variety of food here is not much, and that there are only salmon and tuna sashimi available. Cooked food wise, there were quite some choices, but i particularly like the pork katsu with cheese. It had to be eaten hot, or it will seemed hard after a while. And they served ramen too! Being a sister group of tampopo, i had great expectations of that, but it turns out to be just alright, nothing impressive. The eggs were served separately, and gosh, i would love the egg if it was not served cold.

For the dessert, there were not a lot of choices, but the milk pudding and chocolate eclairs were great! Snatch them at the start of the buffet though, cause it will run out soon and replaced with some other dessert. Custard pudding was average and the coffee jelly was slightly bitter, if not for the milk at the top.

The handrolls were delicious too and they should have it displayed rather than made to order. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the unique variety of desserts. My favorite was the green tea cake toppled with red beans and fresh cream. Service was fine although some of their staffs don't really wear a smile; they were actually quite helpful and ensured that our plates were cleared promptly.
