The char siew meat inside is juicy and tender... yummy! A meal at about $25 per person, is quite worth the price.

Canton-i, located on the upper levels of ion, is a casual Hong kong dining place. Such hong kong restaurants are famous for a number of things, and one of it is their roasted meat. I had the 2 mixed noodle, and chose roasted duck and char siew. Meat serving wise was quite small. Their duck skin is crispy, while the meat is tender and flavorful. The char siew however, is too fatty for my liking even though it seemed that char siew with considerable amount of fats is supposed to be better tasting.

We wanted to treat Grandma to a really good birthday meal this year, so my aunt suggested Canton-i, since old people normally like to eat pig and duck. But it was so damn good that she couldn't stop praising the chef. If you think the mini dish (about $25) is a little too small, you can always get the half-sized one, worth $98, or one whole suckling pig, worth $198, as shown in their menu.

All three images above show the famous Peking duck (my favorite!) that got me drooling all over. I swear it's that good. I ate more than half of it, ignoring my family members; pardon me for being just a little bit selfish when it comes to excellent food.

They didn't have the Double Boiled Fungus with Papaya and Almond dessert that we wanted, so we went for mango sago instead, which was equally good.

SERVICE
The service was GREAT. They have very friendly staff who were polite and agreeable to requests such as dividing the soup into an extra bowl and having more sauce. One female staff even brought an abalone to my aunt just because she wanted to see what it looked like in tightly-sealed packaged form. Thumbs up.

The bill was around $250, slightly expensive, but totally worth it if you ever want to treat yourself once a year.

Their fried rice with salted fish is heavenly. There are a few dishes to try out. Namely there chee cheong fan, egg tarts, char shao shao rou, siew mai. The service is good and place is ideal and conveniently located. A must try!

This place brings together a marriage of my favourite things. it might not be the best salted egg yolk bun restaurant around but at least the custard is flowy.and look!it's purple and it's taro and it comes in psychedelic spirals. Sometimes i will eat it for how it looks.but i'm recommending this not just based on looks alone, its got a good bite to it. Yummy thin skin that's got enough yam flavour. Also like the flowy salted egg yolk filling which is served piping hot in a bamboo dim sum basket

Had my dinner at Canton I as i was craving for some soupy wanton mee. Spicy Drunken Chicken- A cold dish. Steamed white chicken served in spicy sauce. If you cant take spicy food, not recommended as it was really spicy. However, it is a must for all spicy food lover to try!Fried Carrot Cake- Stir fried with XO sauce. Shrimp wanton mee soup - really remind me of what i had in Hong Kong!Overall, it was a very good meal however, the price is quite steep.

So my mum had a craving for canton-i so here we find ourselves again and this time for dinner.fried white bait for appetizers. I wish the batter was crispier but it was enough to keep my dad happy. The szechuan style fish slices were fresh. But the soup you must be warned. It left a numbing aftertaste. It must be due to the szechuan peppercorns used. But these lotus slices?I loved.Crisp and crunchy.Flash fried to perfection. With honey macadamia and celery, carrots.Yums!

TOO CUTE!and it would be hilarious if they had char siew in these.to be honest it was just for aesthetic reasons. those colored bits were much tougher than normal pau skin.but these had red bean paste.and they were yummy! These liu sha baos were good. But they have to be eaten fresh and hot.Otherwise the custard wouldn't flow. But hey, these yam skin buns had a distinct taste of yam and if you're a yam lover like me,definitely order them!

I've always had a thing for chinese food, Hong Kong cuisine especially! My friends and I went to Canton-i the other day at Orchard ION. Fabulous food! My favourite "liu sar pao" aka salted egg bun was super awesome. Salty yet sweet... It's like the best of both worlds! A little too pricey however I'd say. Lower the price a little bit for us, the penniless peasants?

Half an hour more before dim sum ends. We ordered a few dishes to ease our hunger and craves for dim sum. I had custard bun. It looked really presentable and it's pretty small too. Not too bad but i have had better ones elsewhere. This is just average. The bun is soft and a little chewy and the custards are not really smooth and flowy. I also had shark's fin dumpling. The dumpling is huge and the soup is tasty. Need to add a little vinegar to taste. All in all, servie and ambience is good. Food

On my quest to find the best Xiao Long Bao in Singapore. I have to say Canton-i at Ion Orchard has to be it. My boyfriend too agreed that these were pretty darn good. The skin is thin and smooth, the meat is melt in your mouth tasty and filled with plenty of meaty soupy goodness inside. Pick up one of those wooden soup spoon and a pair of chopsticks. Gently lay down one of those tender, juicy dumplings so that it drapes seductively in your spoon.
