Canele @$3.50
Canele is a small cake with dark, thick caramelized crust and soft centre. The name Canele came from the little fluted copper mould in which it is baked.

This canele is flavoured with vanilla and rum. I would not describe it as soft and tender custard center but something chewy like Nonya kueh Bingka Ubi or Indonesia honeycomb cake. The rum is quite distinct and the caramelized crust was quite nice as well. However, $3.50 for such a small piece of honeycomb cake like canele is a bit expensive.

Not sure what's the name of this pastry as the tags were all mixed up. Only get to know that it is some butter cream pastry from the salesperson. It doesn't taste as good as it looks. Neither soft cake nor fluffy crispy puff, cream was nothing special as well. We didn't continue after 2 bites. Perhaps its just because we kept it overnight in the fridge.

Maybe we will try some other pastry fresh at the restaurant next time.

There is like 5 groups of crowds queueing for a table.
It didnt took me long, waited about less than 10mins.

I ordered the Cod fish+Pepper with rice.
It was served with cheese and cream sauce.
The combination of the Cod fish & pepper with cheese sauce was nice at first.
But gets too filling with the rice.

I had a mix fruits tart for dessert.
I was very delicious...there is strawberry,kiwi,mango.
The combination of sweet & sour make it not too sweet with the custard inside.
The crust is very tasty too...it have a very nice frangrance of the degestive oat biscuit.
Yet not too thick.

Overall service is very good.
the server will drop by on and off to refill my warm water
and check on me if I need anything or clean my plates.

Thumbs up for their service ~

Before you actually step into this bakery shop, you will be attracted by the nice fragrant from the pastries from it. I have bought their raisin pastry to check out on the standard and was really happy that I have tried it. The pastry is very fluffy and the outer layer is crunchy and is baked till really nice golden brown colour. The raisins topped on it are very sweet and chewy too. The price may be abit high, but the standard of if sure is worth the price.

The chocolate crossaint was quite expensive but the chocolate filing inside was quite nice and the crust was also so soft. The apricot was awesome too as the crust was really crispy. Although it is quite expensive to me but i can just give myself a treat when i feel like it.

I love french crepes and being a famous French Bakery, I thought I should try the crepes here at Paul. Sadly, the crepes fell short of expectation. It was soggy, and I wasn't even sure if they were freshly made as it wasn't hot or even warm. The chocolate sauce tasted like what i could get out of a hershey bottle. Nothing fantastic to make me wanna go back for more. On top of that, the overly priced crepe made me feel that it's really not worth my while.

I probably won't be back so soon. Especially not when I have to pay so much for something not so satisfying.

The 120 seater restaurant is all stylish French inspired decor with chandeliers and plush sofa chairs. They serve an all day dining menu, serving simple French café food such as sandwiches, soups, salad, quiches, and crepes. If you are lucky, you may get a table by the big windows overlooking Orchard Road.

Nothing extraordinary.

Salmon Sauce Vierge @ $23.90
Pan fried salmon fillet with olive sauce served with rice and Provencal vegetables (tomatoes, red and green peppers, onions cooked with spices and herbs).

Connie felt the salmon is not flavorsome and overcooked. Even after adding a few dashes of salt it still didn't bring out the flavor. The sauteed vegetables was ok.

Paillasson Champignon @ $19.90
Sauteed mushrooms with gralic, shallots and parsley.

Their traditional potato pancake is baked to perfection and has a nice crisp. The garniture is delicious and savory. This is the best and perfect dish, lucky Shareen.

Sauteed mushrooms with gralic, shallots and parsley.
The delicate thin pancakes in a French version can be softer and tastier. The sauteed mushroom is bland, stingy on the salad dressing for the salad and Provencal tomatoes. I am a mushroom lover and i am disappointed.

Chicken marinated in lemon and tarragon, fresh tomatoes and cream. (served warm)
A delicious slice of freshly baked country bread but it's too hard that Shela had to use her hand to eat as the knife just couldn't cut it. The marinated chicken taste good but PAUL, Dubai is better. It's also served with a seasonal side salad.

- My Opinion
This French bakery-restaurant may have a big sitting capacity but its too cramp. Tables were so closed that only ONE person can bypass at a time. The crews seem to be a little confuse and everyone is rushing here and there.

Be prepared to queue if you are dining in during lunch/dinner without a reservation. We waited for almost 10-15min before we were given a seat even we are first in queue. All the staff were too busy serving and taking order that no one has the time to bring us in.

I headed to Paul’s with a couple of my friends. As we went on a weekday, there was not much of a crowd. We ordered two Millefeuille to share. We ordered the vanilla flavor ones. This dessert is really good, the pastry is so crisp and flakes off really easily. I really dore the delicious vanilla pastry cream, I think this is what made the pastry taste so good. the custard is not too sweet but went really well with the pastry. The pastries here is really exquisite, indeed worth a visit.

Attracted by the beeline queue, we decided to give it a try! After a day of shopping, this is a great place to sit down, relax and have sweet bites! I ordered a cup of hot milk. I thought it was suppose to be bland or something but it is overly sweet. I requested the waitress to add more milk or something. They are pretty efficient to get it changed. I saw this piece of pastry on display and ordered. It is really dry and the custard are kind of hardened. Seriously, this place looked really good

Speaking of the crowds at PAUL, I was terrified. I have heard of people making a beeline at the café entrance and that the restaurant waiting service has been poor, kitchen almost went into retardation, food quality didn't match up and the negative response goes on. That was probably 3 months ago when it first welcome its diners in Singapore. I am not totally surprised by the teething issues they faced, given the outlet is the first in Singapore.

For dinner, I ordered Croque Saumon Poireaux. The roast salmon and leeks married well! Embedded between those cheesy toasted bread, they are so moist and delicious! The whole dish was not overly bready.

Another came along; Crepe Complete. It is turkey & cheese in a pancake topped with a fried egg. Interestingly, the oozing cheese fills up your oral cavity while its aroma chalked up your nasal concha!

To polish off my dinner, I started cherry-picking on the dessert list. I could hear competing recommendations ringing in my ears, each refused to compromise. I knew I couldn't possibly eat all of them, I cleverly select Tartelette Citron for a comparison. PAUL's lemon cream tartlet taste a bit sweeter than its rival, Masion Kayser. The crust is flaky and buttery good while the lemon filling taste creamy and tangy. If you prefer something more lemony, I suggest you try Maison Kayser's as theirs will sweep you off your feet!

I must confess that PAUL is a good pick for lunches & tea-time, but you will need more choices for a good dinner. In any case, I have had a satisfying weekend meal at the French bakery. Certainly a great place not to be missed. I will be back for more banlangeries & pastries just as I have tried their plain flute, croissants and sourdough off the rack.

this is currently the best macaron in singapore! it is nice and big and very french. totally a french macaron. i love the pistachio flavour but all their flavours are relaly good. no need for other expensive macarons! the ones here are so authentic and huge. it took me a long time to finish one. the sweetness was balanced and the shell was perfect. the cream texture was just right as well. not cheap but the service is fast and efficient. be prepared for long queues.

I heard so much about this shop. I finally got a chance to try while shopping at Taka. We managed to buy chocolate eclair, lemon meringue tart, croissant as takeaway. The chocolate eclair was not too sweet and has a nice choux pastry. I like the huge lemon meringue tart which has a tangy lemon curd as filling and topped with soft peak of sweet meringue. The combination is just right when you bite them together, as the sourness of the lemon curd is balance with the sweet meringue.
