I reached the outlet just before it opened for business and could spot about 10 people waiting outside the restaurant. I was swiftly showed to a table. The staff also kindly provided me with a bag basket to put my handbag, plus a cloth to cover it. Hot tea was served without asked, and was chargeable at $1++.

Steamed Custard Bun 流沙包 ($2++)
The bun was served pipping hot. The skin was thin and smooth with its filling flowing out easily like lava.

Steamed Assorted Bun Infused with Truffle Oil 菌菇大包 ($2++)
Similar to the Steamed Custard Bun, the skin was thin. It was nicely smelled of truffle oil. The chopped mushroom filling was juicy and flavourful.

Deep-fried Handmade Tofu with Water Chestnuts & Mushrooms 酥炸素豆腐 ($8.60++)
Served with sweet chilli sauce.
The tofu was quite crispy on the outside. Inside it was soft and different from the usual tofu. It was packed with shredded black fungus, shiitake mushrooms and water chestnuts. The black fungus and water chestnuts gave the tofu a unique crunchy texture. The mushrooms gave a earthy taste to the simple looking tofu.

Steamed Layered Red Date Cakes 枣泥糕 ($4.80++ / 2 pieces)
The simple looking cake had a kueh kueh texture, being sticky and chewy. It had a kind of unique sweetness.

Overall the food was not bad. The tea was refilled often. Although it was just 11am, queue was already formed outside the restaurant.

The next time you are there, try the Truffle Xiao Long Bao, unlike other truffle Xiao Long Bao, it isn't as oily and is so aromatically. I fell in love with the first bite!! Lastly, you can't go wrong with Din Tai Fung's fried rice, always so fragrant!

I love 'Xiao Long Baos'! It is also the signature dim sum in Din Tai Feng. The queues numbers are normally long even during non-peak hours but the wait is worthwhile for a good chinese cuisine. Basically when my family chooses to eat out, we'll choose Din Tai Feng as our choice for chinese restaurant. The open kitchen concept can keep my nieces occupied looking at the chefs making the doughs too

If you happen to patron at Din Tai Fung, do order their signature xiao long bao if you have never try it. ordered a Crispy prawn pancake $8.50 and Fried rice with pork & egg $8.50. The end product of the crispy prawn pancake is exactly what the name describes! It is crispy, filled with prawns, and flat like a pancake! It tastes like deep fried prawn dumpling (those dipped in mayo served in dim sum restaurants). The fried rice is really homely and taste fantastic.

For the must dish every time I visit this restaurant, is the Mango Pudding. I think their Mango Pudding is the best!! Compared to other restaurants which also provide mango pudding.

One think that I hate is that the tax and the service surcharge is beyond my understanding. It adds up my bill about 10-20 dollar.

First time eaten at Din Tai Feng was in Taipie very years ago. And, i am still a regular supporter after gotten back to Singapore.

My favorite have always been the Zha Jiang Mian (炸酱面) and Xiao Long Bao (小龙包).

The Xiao Long Bao arrived first. Six dumplings nicely lined and evenly spread out in the steamer basket. All of the identical dumplings were presented in the perfect form. I used the chopsticks to pick one up lightly, trying not to break the thin yet elastic skin. The juice oozed out immediately after my first bite and filled up my spoon. The recommended way to eat Xiao Long Bao is with the vinegar soy sauce and the shredded ginger.

The noodle of Zha Jiang Mian tasted heavenly after nicely mixed with the minced meat, tofu and the sauce. The flavor is great but the portion is a bit too little.

No matter, this is a nice place for great foods. Recommended.

It was a crowded Saturday evening at town. We were at Wisma and came across the Din Tai Fung outlet there. However, as it was very crowded, we decided to drop by the Pargon outlet instead, as we felt that the service there was better.

When we reached the Paragon outlet, we were not surprised to find a long snaking queue forming outside the shop. As we were a large group, (7 pax) it was rather hard to get a seat for us. They told us that the waiting time was about 20-30 mins. We then decided that we should change location as some of us were too hungry to wait.

While contemplating and where to go next, we were pleasantly surprised when the receptionist told us that they had a seat for us as the previous group had canceled their reservation. We were so happy to be given a 'room' and went on in happily.

-

We ordered 3 baskets of Xiao Long bao, fried rice with shrimp, noodle soup with shrimp pork wanton, this beancurd shrimp pancake, and wanton in chilli oil (hong you chao shou)!

1) Xiao Long Bao
What more can i say about the xiao long bao? We could not resist the delicious dim sum and ordered 3 baskets of 10pc! The translucent skin was smooth and thin and tears if you're not quite that careful. The encased broth was flavourful and packed with juicy, savoury meat!

I loved mine with alot of vinegar and a few slices of vinegar, perfection!

2) Wanton in chilli oil (hong you chao shou)

Next we had the wanton in chilli oil. I loved the wantons alot especially when its paired with the special chilli oil & vinegar blend.

3) Shrimp pancake in beancurd skin
Strange as this combination might sound, this dish was super delicious! The shrimps were sweet and fresh and the paste was wrapped in the beancurd skin and deep fried for a interesting texture. Although this was abit oily, all my friends really enjoyed this dish.

4) Fried rice with shrimp
My bf and I had the friend rice with shrimp. This had always been one of my favourites in DTF but i was quite disappointed as the dish came out very bland this round. The shrimps however, were fresh and given generously. I added chilli sauce as some vinegar to mine as it was just too bland for my liking.

5) Noodle soup with shrimp pork wanton
My friend ordered this dish and found it to be bland as well, but he liked the wantons!

Overall, the service was surprisingly good (staff were polite and courteous and kept serving us with refills of drinks) even though it was full house. Would definetely be back for the fantastic XLBs, good service and side dishes!
